Time: There's Never Enough... or is there?
Updated: Apr 20, 2020
We all feel like there isn't enough time in the day or not enough time to fit it all in. This can leave us feeling unproductive or tired or both! But what if we shifted our thoughts about this? What if we paid more attention to this feeling? What if we got more intentional about our time..what would we find?
We can make choices about how we spend our time? I know this sounds impossible with all the demands in our lives - the work deadlines, the kids and family needs, the pressures! If we sit back and let the days take over, they get filled up with all of these pressures and negatives that can overwhelm any of us. We want to feel like we are productive and in control of our days. So instead of letting the days dictate your time, take control of it piece by piece. I am not good at scheduling my whole day out - it's just not me, but I also know that if I prioritize a few minutes to read and journal in the morning, I feel better. I also know that if I watch the news too much, it brings me down, and if I listen to the radio in the car on the way to work, I tend to zone out.
So this is what I'm saying - we all have pockets of the day that we can be more mindful of our time and how we use it. Choose to listen to a book or podcast during your commute instead of the radio, choose to take a walk or schedule a call with that friend you've been meaning to catch up with on your lunch break, choose to keep your journal handy so when your kids finally leave you a lone for a few minutes you can choose to use that time for something you are passionate about. Paint and get creative during the evening instead of vegging out on the couch. Even if we want to use it to zone out, do it on purpose not because it just passes time.
The point is, we can be more mindful of what we choose to do with our time. You don't have to schedule everything to do things on purpose and regain some control over our days. We can all do this with just a few small adjustments!
